Welcome to The Albemarle Centre

The Albemarle Centre is undergoing significant service development to become Albemarle Life Skills. Our existing services, including The Albemarle Centre will continue. We were established in 1982 as a safe social haven for adults with Learning Disabilities. Since then growing into being a community hub where everyone is welcome.

We are a charity committed to providing daily support for independent living in the home or in the community. As of October 2015 this is now available seven days a week, during the daytime and evenings. Within The Albemarle you’ll find a warm and friendly social setting with various clubs, activities and outings. If of interest we can assist with return to work, learning or into volunteering. We are here for anyone who needs a little extra help. As Albemarle Life Skills we will be providing another level of support and development, enabling our clients to gain qualifications and experience in a range of skills with the intention of progressing into employment.

People who use our services come from a range of backgrounds. Including those with learning disabilities, acquired brain injury, mental health illnesses, physical barriers, the frail, the elderly, the lonely, isolated and vulnerable. We currently provide services for some 300 people a week. Additionally a number of individuals are assisted within our supported housing service to live independently in our residential flats close to the town centre.

For many years one of the services provided has been providing an accessible venue for meetings & conferences. While this is invaluable in helping fund our charitable aims, as part of Albemarle Life Skills it more importantly provides real life work experience for the people we help. Your conference may provide a genuine opportunity for our clients on their journey towards independence. Just click here to see what TSB Bank had to say.

On site there is high speed broadband throughout at no extra charge, full wheelchair access including a lift, hearing loop, projectors and screens and break out rooms. Outside is a small garden area, there are several public car parks a few minutes walk away and less than five minutes for Taunton Railway Station.

Come and see us soon.
